Whats next?
- It seems that IFK Lidingö will be much more competitive: Jonn Are Myhren (6th middle distance WOC Ukraine) and Annika Billstam (silver medal at relay WOC Ukraine) joined the club some weeks a go. Both girls and boys have serious possibilities to fix some good results at the big relays..
Will be Jonn Are able to go away from the others in the dark and straight långa-natten next year at Tiomila?
-And tomorrow we' ll go to Åland (Finland) for the first seasons training camp. Fredrik Löwegren will join us as new coach. I' m looking forward to do some really technical training in the finnish rocky open areas.
-Knee: I' m going on with alternative trainings and sometimes (twice a week) I' m trying to run on soft surfaces. Strength, massage and anti-inflammatory are doing the rest. Hope I' ll be back on track soon..
-A new iPhone Apple is coming with Father Xmas!

Hej,
I' m following a new rehabilitation program for my runners knee. I just added to my daily stretching sessions a few new (at least for me) exercises and every week I' m going for a check and massage to a physiotherapist just behind my flat.
The hope never die!
And tonight The Soap Bar..

After Italian Champs I went for a medical examination. Prof. Luigi Stecco , with his Fascial Manipulation, tried to fix my painful knee. Actually he did quite well because he found some old problems I have just looking at simple stretching exercise. He hardly massaged on the back of my sholuder and I felt immediately relief. But after a couple of days, when I tried to run again pain was still there. At least I didn' t feel pain in longitudinal movements. I trust him and I' ll fly back soon for another check..
Anyway I' m taking some no-full-training weeks and instead I' m going for shopping and nightlife.
On saturday Sero will offer drinks to everybody because of his salary increase!

Next week-end it will be time for the last Italian championships 2007. Long distance on saturday and relay on sunday. We will run in a beautiful and fast terrain in the forest close to Subiaco (Rome) where the WC were held in 2005. We all hope for a really technical and challenging courses..
My club has 2 teams in the relay. We' ll go for a top 5 place for both of them!!
_After a 2h run in the middle of July I started again to feel pain in my right knee. I ran in Scotland but the pain wasn' t so hard..But since 2 weeks it showed up again. I already booked a medical examination for next monday somewhere close to Vicenza in Italy.
_I have a new swedish hair cut
_Weather is changing: last week the temperatures fell down to 10/15 degrees during the day. Yesterday, on my way to work around 6 am I found some SNOW on the motorway!
_The job is good enough at the moment. I' m learning quickly all the things but soon I' ll try to find something more difficult and challenging..
_I' ll fly to London on 2 weeks to take part at the London Open House. I like to be updated about Architecture and to have a look at the built environment.
_Probably I' ll have the possibility to go for some works in the far East..

Back in the forest!

Last w-e we had +8/+10 °C and snow was disappearing in the forest. It seems spring is coming..but anyway, I will not say it again because a friend told me in April can fall down again 30cm of fresh snow!
During last week I had 2 strength training with Oskar: I thought the muscles around the knee were fit enough to try again running in the forest with map and checking if I' m still able to do Orienteering!
So, on saturday we had a klubb training and on sunday I took part at VinterSerien with Sèero and Andrew.
I ran both with a slow pace (I cannot do more right now!) and tried to be focused on map-reading. Actually I' m quite satisfied first of all for my knee reaction on rough terrain and also for my navigation.
In 2 weeks we' ll have a Tiomila training camp around Eskilstuna.
Now I' ll take it easy and I wont push hard immediately..

1 week
From 1 week I started running every single day..
Even if I feel little pain every right step, I decided to start in any case with slow pace runs ( not more than 40min) and lot of stretching.
After more than 70days, my training diary is open again..
Runner' s knee?
My physiotherapist in Lidingö checked my knee again.
In the last month nothing relevant happened. It seems not common pain and I think he doesn' t know exactly what the problem is.
Next monday he' ll look at my RMI with some specialist.
At the moment he gave me an elastic band "Back on track", a fabric of polyester with a ceramic powder melted into the threads. The ceramic reflects body heat as an infrared wave, a form of energy that has a documented pain relieving effect.
I' ll try running tomorrow and I' ll see..
Xmas gift
I'm in Italy right now.
Yesterday I' ve been to surgery to have MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) done.
The result say my right knee has "only" this problem: "presence of synovial plica medial patellar of modest thickness".
It seems (fortunately) not a big problem but until now was enough to stop my winter training. In the next days I' ll meet a friend physiotherapist and we' ll decide about next steps..
I found some document on the web: "...Most patients give a history of blunt trauma or an increase in repetitive sporting activities, but any form of chronic or transient synovitis can cause the plica to lose its elasticity by becoming inflamed and thickened. Such changes can affect suprapatellar and medial para-patellar plicae, which may bowstring and impinge in the patello-femoral joint during flexion, subsequently leading to localised chondromalacia..."
Injection #1
This afternoon I met again my physiotherapist and, because I still feel pain and I cannot run, we decided together make an injection ( with local anesthetic and something more) exactly in the hurting point in the back of my right knee.
He said we' ll meet again next week and we' ll check if it works out or not!
Now I feel something strange in that point but I think is because of the first period after injection..
Forced break
Finally today I went at physiotherapist (norwegian, he came from Halden) for my problem in the back of my right knee. After an accurate medical examination and some squat, he started with massage and I found an over stretch of popliteus tendon. In the next days I'll have lot of stretching sessions also with bike and strength machines.
