Norway
Last week I went to Norway for some holiday.
I visited first Oslo and the mythical Holmenkollens jumping hill.
Then I drove west to Lysefjorden where I ran up to the famous Kjeragbolten (below the boulder is a sheer drop of about 1000m to the fjord) and I had a nice trip with the boat..
I saw nice landscapes (like in Switzerland and Scotland) on the way to Bergen where I couldn' t sleep because every single room was booked because of Eric Clapton concert..Anyway I visited the old town and surroundings and still now I think that' s better then the capital Oslo.
Last and the worst Lillehammer where I thought they should do something better after the Olympics Games in 1994..

Oringen 08
Missed:
-famiglia Baccega
-una pasta con i veneti
Crowded
I took pictures from yesterdays JWOC men relay start.
As you can see there are lot of runners who cannot stay behind their maps because there' s not enough room for everyone..not so good from the swedish organizers! Look at the british guy..
Hopefully next year in Primiero-Italy it will be much better!
Andrea Seppi
Great performance of ANDREA SEPPI at JWOC in Gothenburg: he finished in 5th place at Sprint distance!
Already at EYOC 2005s Sprint distance he swohed his class reaching the 3rd position, 15 seconds behind the leader Štěpán Kodeda from Czech Republic.
Yesterday the winner was again Kodeda and the gap was only 14 seconds..
Well done ANDREA!!
Jukola 2008
I' m not still recovered after 2 all-nights-standing but I have still forces to write down some lines about this week-end somewhere outside Tampere in Finland.
I want to thank all my mates and my coaches because now probably I understood something more about the meaning of the word TEAM.
I couldn' t train as I would in the last weeks because of a over stretch in the back of my thigh. Thus I was little bit unsure about my capacity to keep the right flow in the forest.
As a typical stupid guy I didn' t care about that and I decided to push quite hard because I knew you had to be aggressive in that tough terrain.
The plan was quite simple:
-no mistakes at the first control
-stay in the pack and check his direction always
I never understood my position during the race because of packs of runners cames everywhere. Of course, when you are running with Halden, Kalevan Rasti and Vaajakosken Terä you can be sure that you are not so bad..Just after let Petter run his perfect race someone told me I changed over around 30th position in a big pack..
I' ll remember for a long time:
-the last 30 seconds before the "take off": incredible silence around you..
-on the way to the first control when I saw that was really dark (especially in the green areas) and I knew my capacities in night-orienteering
- "Dai Giacomo, forza!" Giancarlo Simion was just behind me at 2/3 of the race. Well done Gian!
- After shower and sauna when I saw Pinnen (our 3rd runner) changing in 10th position..at that moment I decided to stay awake all the night
We finished as 31st team:a really good result for a 2nd team!
Huge
On saturday night I' ll run the first leg (2nd team) at Jukola in Kaanaa-Tampere.
It has to be really cool, expecially when you have other 1453 runners around you..luckily I have number 49: it means I' m in a good position nearly in front of the pack.
We had 2 Jukola-test last week-end in some relevant terrains around Stockholm. I ran good in both and, as our coaches Fredrik L and Oskar M said, it was really difficult to make the teams..that' s good! IFK Lidingö has 2 strong teams (as usual) on the starting line!
Everyone in the club is looking forward to a nice week-end in Finland..probably something like last year?
Stockholm City Cup 08
14 May - Humlegården

The course was too easy. You could see the controls already 100 meters before. It was like a cross country race. Anyway I could miss the route choice to the 7th control..

21 May - Gröna Lund
We knew before the start that the legs 4th-5th and 12th-13th didn' t count for the final result.
Because of that the meaning of Sprint orienteering went away: the crucial legs were exactly after 13th control!
After 17th control we ran into Tivoli Park with lot of people walk around: some runners had problems with that chaos..not those ones who are used to run in Venice!

28 May - Vinterviken
It was chasing start for the first best 10 runners in the earlier stages.
I started as 4th runner, 3 seconds behind Peter Hemmyr.
Already on the way to the 2nd control I was in a pack with Hemmyr and Skarholt. We have been togheter all the way to the 12th control where I missed the control: I couldn' t read the butterfly area and I was standing just 50m from it..I missed also the first control of the first loop.
I finished in 6th position. Not so bad for this kind of Spriddle!

TC in Finland
Last week end we were in Tampere-Finland to check and familiarize with Jukola terrains.
We had a really good time with our club friends from MS Parma.
Good runnability on the top of the hills and green areas and marshes down in the slopes. Visibility is quite good almost everywhere: that' s what we took home from this training camp.
Guys from Parma were faster in the forest but we won football match at least!
See you on 2 weeks..

Next
Tonight the 2nd Stockholm City Cup will be held at the Tivoli Park.
And tomorrow we' re going to Tampere (Finland) for a training camp on Jukola terrains..
Nice!
